Day 1:           Ilboru Safari Lodge, Arusha

Tanzania

The name Tanzania conjures up images of wildebeest stampeding across vast savannah, rain forests teeming with monkeys and birdlife, and great plains brimming with legions of game. All of these natural wonders and more are on offer in this exceptionally diverse African nation. Visitors typically visit Tanzania to partake in at least one of the four well known Tanzanian tourist experiences: a relaxing seaside vacation on the picturesque island paradise of Zanzibar, an underwater tour of some of the world’s most renowned dive sites around the gorgeous Spice Islands, a safari adventure in some of Africa’s most impressive game reserves, or a hiking excursion around Mount Kilimanjaro National Park. Whichever of these incredible holidays you choose, you will undoubtedly be welcomed by some fabulously friendly and peaceful inhabitants who, despite being divided into 120 different ethnic groups and cultures, live in harmony with one another and provide some of the most wonderfully exotic local cuisine you could imagine. With all of this diversity on offer, the most difficult part of your Tanzanian holiday experience is likely to be deciding where to go!

Arusha

Arusha is the safari capital of Tanzania – nestled below Mt. Meru and close to Mount Kilimanjaro. From Arusha there are options to head  to Lake Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro National Parks and from there it’s a short trip to the Serengeti. Arusha was built by the Germans as a centre of colonial administration because of the temperate climate.

Day 2:           Kiota Camp Serengeti, Seronera

Seronera

The Seronera region, in the central Serengeti, is set directly on the Great Migration route, and offers excellent viewing of this incredible annual phenomenon, when countless wildebeest flood across the plains. While migratory game populations fluctuate seasonally, Seronera is still a wildlife hotspot at other times of the year, sheltering the Big Five, among many other species. A number of small campsites provide accommodation and visitors can enjoy hot air balloon trips and walking safaris as well as guided game drives.

Day Itinerary

This morning take a bush plane into the Serengeti. This area is teeming with wildlife year round due to the permanent availability of water. Depending on the time of year of your travels you might be able to search for the famous wildebeast migration and the predators that follow it (April, May, December and March)

Overnight: Kiota Camp Serengeti

Kiota Camp is permanently located in the Central Serengeti, taking advantage of the year round wildlife viewing the Seronera Valley and nearby areas have to offer. The Central Serengeti is famed for its healthy population of large cats, permanent game around the Seronera River, and Rettima Hippo Pool. Kiota is the sister camp of Chaka Camp. Combining Kiota and Chaka Camps for a four to six night stay in the Serengeti ecosystem is an excellent way to see many different areas of the vast wildlife area.

Day 6:           Kasha Luxury Boutique Hotel, Kigomani

Day Itinerary

Dive with Dive Point Zanzibar, a professional PADI 5* Dive Resort,  located opposite Mnemba Atoll.

Daily Dive Program:

Morning greetings

Our professional and friendly team look forward to helping you get ready for your days diving in Zanzibar. Once you have been sized up for equipment, we head down to our jetty to board our boat. Here in Zanzibar the tides vary greatly, so our method of boarding may also differ. If the tide is low we will take a short walk down our beautiful beach to board. This is dependent on the tides the day you dive. Transport for anyone with impairment in mobility can be arranged.

On Our way…

Our boats leave in the mornings at 8:30am for two dives at two different locations around Mnemba Atoll. Our staff will help you to board the boats safely, ready to visit the best dive sites in Zanzibar. The trip to the first dive site takes approx. 25 minutes.

First dive

Your dive guide will help you with safety checks before entering the water and provide a dive briefing. The dive time is roughly 50 minutes, although this will depend on your air consumption.

Surface interval

To make the most of your diving in Zanzibar, the surface interval is spent on the boat. This allows you to take in the beauty of Mnemba Atoll and it’s turquoise waters. Tea, water, fruit and cake will be served. You can catch some sun rays on the front deck or relax in the shade whilst enjoying your break. Your dive guides will get everything ready for the second dive for you.

Second Dive

Once you are refreshed and rested, the boat will move to a different location. Here we will do our second dive of the day and then head to back to the dive center. The trip involves approximately 3 – 4 hours at sea. You can expect to be back at the dive centre around 1 – 2pm in the afternoon.

Zanzibar Dive Seasons

Diving in Zanzibar is good all year round, but sea conditions do vary from one season to another.

March / October-November

The best months to dive in Zanzibar. The weather is good, visibility excellent and the marine life as rich and varied as ever.

April – May

Rainy season in Zanzibar- underwater the conditions are great, but the surface can be rainy and windy.

June – September (Kusi – wind from the South)

A bit windy, but conditions are still good

December – February (Kaskazi – wind form the North)

December and January are the windiest months of the year so the boat trip can get choppy.

For non-divers, there are many opportunities to explore this interesting island:

The Spice Tour in Zanzibar is a 3 hour guided excursion. Guest will have an opportunity to discover tropical fruits, spices and herbs, and some rare plants. Get to see Zanzibars cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, cardamom, curry, pepper, tamarind, ginger, menthol and many other spices and herbs brought by the sultans of Oman across the Indian Ocean. Our guides will give you the detailed descriptions of what the various plants are used for, though not all of them are for food, others used for medicine.

Jozani Forest Tour in Zanzibar is a half day guided tour. The forest is also known as jozani chwaka bay national park. This forest holds the rare Red Colobus Monkeys that can not be seen anywhere else in the world.

You may start by visiting a natural forest where the smaller trees and bushes make several sub-canopies under the highest canopy. However this attraction (natural forest) and the nature walk are just options.

Prison Island Tour in Zanzibar is a half day exploration. Prison Island is also known as Changuu Island. The name “prison island” came after this unique island was used by some sultans of Zanzibar to detain the recalcitrant slaves. Reached by about 25 to 30 minutes boat ride (motorized).

While you are on this Island, you will be able to swim, snorkeling and take pictures with giant tortoises. When snorkeling watch colorful school of tropical fish such as black snapper, orange lined triggerfish, spotted garfish, barracuda, longfin bannerfish, emperor angelfish, rabbit fish, clown triggerfish, bluestripe snaper and more.

This day tour will be best for snorkeling lovers and as well as beach relaxers but it also includes historical sites and the tortoises.

Stone Town City Tour

Stone Town is an atmospheric and mystical town and is the cultural and historical heart of Zanzibar. It was constructed from coral stone during the 19th and 20th century. It was declared a World Heritage Site in 2000.
