Botswana is well known for having some of the best wilderness and wildlife areas on the African continent. With almost 40% of its land area devoted to national parks, reserves and wildlife management areas you can travel through many parts of the country has the feeling of moving through an immense Nature wonderland. The first – and most lasting impressions – will be of vast expanses of uninhabited wilderness stretching from horizon to horizon, the sensation of limitless space, astoundingly rich wildlife and bird viewing, night skies littered with stars and heavenly bodies of an unimaginable brilliance, and stunning sunsets of unearthly beauty. Experience here the stunning beauty of the world’s largest intact inland Delta – the Okavango; the unimaginable vastness of the world’s second largest game reserve – the Central Kalahari Game Reserve; the isolation and other-worldliness of the Makgadikgadi – uninhabited pans the size of Portugal; and the astoundingly prolific wildlife of the Chobe National Park. Botswana is the last stronghold for a number of endangered bird and mammal species, making your safari experience even more memorable, and at times you will feel simply surrounded by wild animals.

Okavango Delta

Lying in the middle of the largest expanse of sand on earth the Okavango Delta is one of Africa’s most amazing, sensitive and complex environments supporting a spectacle of wilderness and wildlife. Unique as one of the world’s few inland deltas, the placid waters and lush indigenous forests offer a safe haven for innumerable bird and wildlife species. The Okavango Delta offers a number of activities for the visitor; game viewing, birding and fishing are all on offer. One can experience this magical world of islands and waterways from land, air and water. Highlights include the elusive Sitatunga antelope which has found refuge in this pristine wetland ecosystem, while birds such as the African fish eagle, Pel’s fishing owl and many others provide a spectacular display.

Upon arrival in Maun our representative will assist you to take a bush plane deep into the Okavango Delta where you will join your first safari this afternoon.

Boat Excursions

Explore the Okavango Deltaʼs crystal clear waterways by motorboat, and enjoy the magnificent variety of bird, plant and reptile species found in the area.

Visit the Kanana Private Heronry, one of the largest breeding sights in Southern Africa.

Mokoro

Mokoro activities provide the chance to experience the incredible aquatic wildlife of the Okavango Delta, such as sitatunga, fish eagles, painted reed frogs and malachite kingfishers. Climb aboard a Mokoro with your ʻpolerʼ and enjoy exploring the Okavango Deltaʼs tranquil waterways. Mokoro has glass bottom to view underwater world!

Walking Safari

Take a guided bush walk to gain a detailed understanding of this diverse environment, which features gems such as red lechwe bounding through marshy areas, a kaleidoscope of birdlife, plus predators and big game. Walks can also be taken on small islands where the extraordinary Pelʼs Fishing Owl is known to nest.

Fishing

Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy motorboat trips to some of the Okavango Deltaʼs best fishing spots, for a chance to experience the beautiful surroundings before landing a variety of species such as tilapia and tiger fish, African pike and sharp tooth catfish.

Night Drives

Game drives often continuing into the evening offering the opportunity of seeing nocturnal inhabitants of the area.

A hidden jewel on the Xudum River, Kanana is located in the southwest of the Okavango Delta. The area encompasses a necklace of islands dotted with palms, figs, ebony and knobthorn, and is home to a myriad of birds, plants and animals. The nature of the habitat means it is the perfect place to experience the diversity of species found within the Okavango Delta.

Guests are accommodated in seven spacious twin and double-bedded safari tents and one family tent, each with en-suite bathrooms with large walk-in shower, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. Families are accommodated in a two bedroomed tent, sharing a bathroom and the addition of an outdoor shower – ideal for families in this child-friendly camp. The tents are well spaced, affording privacy whilst remaining within a comfortable distance from the main camp area.

Moremi Game Reserve

The amazing foresight of Chief Moremi created one of the world’s most famous reserves, conserving part of the Okavango Delta and the plains to its east. The reserve covers more than 4871 square kilometres of pristine wilderness, and the varied terrain includes savannah, winding waterways, and thick forest. This diversity supports an incredibly wide spectrum of wildlife, ranging from large herds of buffalo, wildebeest and zebra, to the rare sitatunga and lechwe antelope, and lion, cheetah and packs of wild dog in the open grasslands. The birdlife is prolific and includes most of the 550 bird species recorded on the Botswana national bird list.

Okuti, draws its influence from the Maunachira River which flows in front of the camp, with its abundant birdlife, fish and sandy river banks, it remains an oasis of serenity and peacefulness. Okuti is built amidst the wilderness of one of Botswana’s prime game viewing regions, Moremi Game Reserve.

Activities

Situated in the heart of the world-renowned Moremi Game Reserve, guests can experience unhindered views in specially-designed safari vehicles. Our window seat guarantee ensures no more than four guests per vehicle when out on game drives. The Moremi Game Reserve is rich in wildlife, and its consistent year-round game viewing makes it ideal for the first time visitors to Botswana. Guests can also explore the Okavango Delta waterways by motorboat, and the areas open lagoons and winding channels make it a birder’s paradise, complete with herons and storks in the breeding season.

Attractions

Okuti offers one of the best value safari experiences in the Moremi Game Reserve and Okavango Delta region of Botswana. It provides excellent game viewing due to its widely varied and protected habitats which support a huge variety of wildlife.

Accommodation:

Okuti comprises five twin-bedded “Masasas”, each with en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor shower, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. The honeymoon unit features a double bed, indoor and outdoor shower along with an outdoor bath tub . An additional two family “Masasas” consist of two bedrooms which share spacious bathroom facilities – ideal for families in this child-friendly camp. Okuti’s spacious curved ‘Masasas ’ are located on raised decks with river views.

Day 6:           Kadizora Camp, Selinda Spillway

Selinda Spillway

Situated in the northern corner of Botswana, the Selinda Spillway connects the ancient waterways of the eastern Linyati Swamps and the western Okavango Delta. The spillway can flow in two different directions and along its course, you will find the game-rich floodplains of the Selinda Reserve, one of the country’s most famous wildlife concessions. This area is off the beaten track, which allows for prime game and bird viewing opportunities. Commonly spotted wildlife include: lion, hyena, jackal, leopard, buck, cheetah, large herds of elephants and the rare African wild dog. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities including game drives, guided bush walks, and canoeing safaris.

Activities:

Say good bye to Moremi Game Reserve after your morning safari and take a bush flight to an area called the Selinde Spillway. Afternoon tea awaits prior your evening safari.

The northern areas of the delta feature larger expanses of savannahs punctuated by lagoons and tributaries, and it is on the banks of one of these that a magnificent site has been selected for Kadizora Camp. Beneath a majestic stand of trees and along a peninsula, commanding uninterrupted panoramic vistas of the delta, the camp has been set out to afford each luxury tent absolute privacy.

Kadizora presents 9 luxury tents and 4 Standard Tents, each with generous living spaces, and surrounded by sophisticated furnishing, making time between exciting wildlife experiences comfortable and tranquil. In addition to open vehicle and walking safaris, mokoro excursions will provide the ideal position from which to explore the endless flow of rivers and tributaries, this tranquil experience permits close encounters with an abundance of bird and wildlife.

Standard Tents

There are  4 Standard Tents. Each spacious tent is well positioned for guest privacy, with outdoor decking and secluded views. The tents have an en-suite bathroom with a feature bath and his / hers vanities.

Optional:Kadizora is the only camp in the Okavango Delta to offer hot air ballooning. You have the option, of booking an early morning hot air balloon flight to soar over the Delta at sunrise and view game from above.
