This morning take a tour to the scenic Cape of Good Hope followed by a visit to a wild penguin colony. After at leisure of choose from the optional tours listed.

Activities:

Cape of Good Hope with penguin beach, half day, small group tour

Enjoy the breath-taking views along one of the world’s most scenic areas which stretches from the City centre to Cape Point. Also, stop at a picturesque coastal village which is home to a colony of penguins.

Travel along the Atlantic Seaboard via Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay, to Hout Bay, a quaint village and fishing harbour with magnificent mountain views and beach. Continue via Chapman’s Peak (if open), one of the world’s most breath-taking coastal drives, to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point which is perceived to be the meeting point of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Go on to historic Simon’s Town, a village with charming Victorian architecture, a naval base and a large penguin colony at the beautiful Boulders Beach which is our last stop for the morning. Boulders Penguin Colony is home to a growing colony of the vulnerable African Penguin. Wooden walkways allow visitors to view the penguins in their natural habitat and there is also a new information centre. The tour ends with drop-off at your hotel in the early afternoon.  Great White Shark Cage Dive

Ride early for a day trip to Gaans Baai’s Shark Alley, considered the Great White Capital in the World, to give yourself the experience of a life-time, a cage encounter  with one of the foremost predators in the world, the Great White Shark. Divers and non-divers alike can join in this adventure since no breathing equipment is used, you just hold your breath. You may also watch them from the top deck of the boat which, if circumstances allow, will carry on to Dyer Island to see the seals the sharks are in the vicinity for. Return to Cape Town along scenicly dramatic costal road. Breakfast and/or snack are offered on the vessel.

Please note that the drive along the coast to Gaans Baai and boat trip is a wonderful experience even if you choose not to partake in the actual cage dive. You will be able to view the sharks from the top deck of the vessel.

Horseback safari near Cape Town – full day

Visit a game reserve for a full day outing of riding on horseback. You may slow walk across the plains or canter at full throttle. No experience is necessary for the horseback safari day tour. Included are a welcome drink, buffet breakfast, horseback safari, visit to Rescue and Conservation Center, buffet lunch. Full day tour.

Robben Island and City Tour with Table Mountain

The tour commences with a ferry trip across the bay to Robben Island. (weather permitting). From the 17th to the 20th centuries, Robben Island served as a place of banishment, isolation and imprisonment. Today it is a World Heritage Site and museum, a poignant reminder of the price paid for freedom. The excursion includes a return ferry to the island, a bus tour on the island and of the prison. Upon return to the mainland, enjoy a drive through Bo-Kaap to discover how the Malay slaves influenced the culture, food and aesthetics of this beautiful city and its people.In the heart of the city enjoy for a short walk through the Company Gardens. From squirrels to a variety of plant life, it’s just a happy place to soak up some ‘Cape Town vibes’ and enjoy the aviaries and fishponds. On the Wale Street end of the garden you will find a monument which was created to commemorate the life and work of Desmond Tutu –lovingly referred to by South Africans as “The Arch” and a tribute to the values of the South African Constitution. Arch for Arch was installed beside historic St. George’s Cathedral aka “People’s Cathedral” for its role in the resistance against apartheid. Step inside the Slave Lodge which explores the history of these unwilling immigrants and how they have contributed to the richness and diversity of South African history. As you drive through the city you shall get a feel for the cultural melting pot that it is. Continue the tour with a visit to the Castle of Good Hope –the oldest building in South Africa. The Castle acted as local headquarters for the South African Army in the Western Cape, and today houses the Castle Military Museum and ceremonial facilities for the traditional Cape Regiments. Alternatively, make a stop at Truth Café for a ‘cuppa’ at this ‘steampunk inspired’ artisan coffee shop serving hand-roasted coffees in a vintage cast-iron drum (meal for own account). Continue to Table Mountain where you shall reach the top by cable car (weather permitting) Enjoy the panoramic views over the city with Robben Island lying sleepily in Table Bay. Also,get a bird’s eye view over the Atlantic Seaboard.Return to your hotel in the early evening. Excludes lunch and cable car.

Table Mountain Hike

Pushed for time? Got something planned in the afternoon? Table Mountain was made for half-day hiking. Whether it’s a hike up and the cable car down or a hike up and down, you’ll be finished by lunchtime and have the rest of the day free. And if you want the sunset up there – well, half day Table Mountain hikes work just as well in the afternoon too.

The biggest determining factor is if you want to ride down with the cable car. If so, you have two options; if not, there are many excellent half day hikes all over Table Mountain but you’ll need to walk down as well. And I always take the easiest way down!

Sea Kayak and Cape Point Tour with Lunch

Depart your city based hotel and travel to the naval hamlet of Simon’s Town which is located on the False Bay coast of the Cape Peninsula. Embark on a sea kayaking adventure(scheduled) with experienced guides in in a twin or single-seater Fluid kayak accompanied by a knowledgeable, fully-trained and experienced sea kayak guide. Kayaks are stable and perfect for those with no experience. Head out to explore the waterways and secret coves hidden amongst pristine beaches and the natural environments of so many wildlife species that call the area home. After a beach landing you will return to Seaforth Beach to change into dry clothing. Before continuing your journey, visit the Boulders Beach Penguin Colony to witness the African Jackass Penguin in its natural environment.After this delightful visit, travel to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve –one of two world-renowned landmarks within the Table Mountain National Park. Travel over the Helshoogte Pass to the town of Franschhoek, historically dating back to the 17th century when the French Huguenots arrived. Billed as the Gourmet Capital of South Africa, this charming town, in a most picturesque valley, retains a French Huguenot style. Enjoy a wine tasting before taking time to enjoy the fabled culinary skills of the Franschhoek chefs at one of the many award-winning restaurants. Onward to Paarl, one of the Cape’s first farming districts. The town is set at the foot of the cluster of remarkable granite domes from which it takes its name. Walk To Freedom, small group half day tour

The day commences with a look at the picturesque “Bo-Kaap” –an historic area that became home to many Muslims and freed slaves after the abolition of slavery. Discover the unique culture, lifestyle and personality during a walk through the area.Continue to Zonnebloem, originally District Six, and visit the living museum (closed on Sundays). Established in December 1994, it incorporates memories of District Six and the forced removals. With the struggle for the land now taking a different form, the museum supports the process of ‘reinventing’ District Six for the present. Depart the city area and head tothe Cape Flats, where a stop will be made in Langa Township’s Gugu S’Thebe Arts & Cultural Centre. Housed in a brightly coloured building, the centreis dedicated to the empowerment of the people of Langa and improving their socio-economic situation. Explore the local arts and crafts on display in the various studios, metal and pottery workshops, as well as the retail facility. Embark on a walking tour with a local registered guide providing the opportunity to be exposed to the community and lifestyle of Langa. This morning we head to the fishing village of Hout Bay for a visit to Sembach Gallery (open on weekends and by appointment only on weekdays). Sophisticated art works with exquisite style and contemporary beauty by some of the most talented South African Artists are showcased here. In its new home, the gallery features a unique setting of shabby chic meets industrial, snugly ensconced in the vibrant, hustle & bustle, precinct of the Bay Harbour Market, Hout Bay. In response to the gallery owners’ passions and commitment to upliftment of individuals artists and communities, they have therefore invited Intle Art to share their space. Intle Art enables aspiring and disadvantaged young artists in Hout Bay to develop artistic and entrepreneurial skills. Travel via Chapman’s Peak Drive (provided the road is open), which winds its way between Hout Bay and Noordhoekon the Atlantic Coast on the south-western tip of South Africa. Chapman’s Peak Drive is one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world.At Noordhoekwe make a stop at the Farm Village to appreciate the unique local South African handmade craft. Worth a visit is Noordhoek Art offering an eclectic mix of collectables, photography, paintings by famous SA Artists, designer jewellery, porcelain artifacts and more. Cape of Good Hope Cycling with Penguin Colony, full day private tour

For the energetic traveller who appreciates nature, this tour offers an alternative to simply watching the scenic splendour of the Cape Peninsula pass you by, allowing you time to cycle a section of the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve.

Depart your hotel in the early morning and travel along the spectacular Atlantic Seaboard, past Hout Bay Harbour and via the picturesque Chapman’s Peak Drive to the Noordhoek Farm Village. Renowned for long white sandy beaches, vast wetlands and ancient milkwood forest, Noordhoek epitomizes a relaxed, unhurried lifestyle that is sought after by many environmentalists and artists, so don’t be surprised to find horses, pigs, cows, hens, ducks and rabbits roaming the gardens and open public spaces. Here you will enjoy some light refreshments to energise you for your visit to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve.On arrival at the reserve, you will have the opportunity to cycle along the winding road to the historical landmark of Cape Point, the most South-Western point of Africa (weather permitting). The reserve is home to an array of fynbos, over 250 species of birds, buck, baboons and Cape mountain zebra. Continue to enjoy views from Cape Point Lighthouse before travelling to the naval hamlet of Simon’s Town. Enjoy a delicious lunch before proceeding to Boulders Beach for a visit to the penguin colony. Well-placed wooden walkways allow visitors to see these delightful little creatures in their natural habitat without invading their privacy too much. After visiting the penguins,you stop (time & tide permitting) on a lovely semi-private beach for swimming.

Note: Cyclists must be 110cm or taller. Cycling takes place only within the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Depending on the cycling abilities of the clients, the cycling can be adapted to their preferences in respect of distance –up to 30km of mountain biking trail is available in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Clients should take their own towels if they wish to swim at Boulders Beach. Safety gear is provided .If there are guests who do not want to cycle, they remain on the vehicle with the guide who follows the cyclists closely.

Head off to the historic heart of South Africa’s wine industry. Enjoy some time in the bustling town of Stellenbosch where solid, white-plastered buildings arose and the streets were planted with oak trees, giving it the name Eikestad (Town of Oaks), which is still used to describe the town today. Walk down the canal-lined avenues, in the shade of those now giant oak trees and its beautifully preserved historic buildings. Stop in at one of the world-renowned estates for a wine tasting and tune into the soul of the region’s wine lands. Return to your hotel after an enthralling time in the countryside.

Located in the Mpumalanga Province, the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve shares a fenceless border with the world-renowned Kruger National Park. This magnificent 60 000 hectare reserve is best known for its two very rare white lions discovered here in the 1970s, which gave this destination its name. Meaning ‘the place where something sacred came down to earth from the heavens’, the park lives up to the hype with its enthralling African savannah, abundant wildlife, and friendly people. Visitors have the opportunity to see 40 mammal species, 360 bird species and the famous Big Five (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo). We know that an African safari is a very special experience – we invite you to join us for a journey of discovery on a wildlife safari. Shindzela is a small wilderness camp, and hosts a maximum of 16 guests. We focus on game drives in open 4×4 vehicles (day & night drives), and walking safaris.

Our walking safaris and game drives place an emphasis on understanding the wild environment, and tracking and viewing animals in their natural surroundings. We are able to drive off road in search of African predators and Big Five animals.

Situated in the Timbavati Nature Reserve, and part of the Greater Kruger National Park, Our tented accommodation consist of 8 canvas tents set on wooden decks with a little porch, each with their own en-suite bathroom (shower, hand basin, flush toilet). Each tent has got a mosquito net over the bed, and canvas flaps for windows also lined with mosquito nets.

Our camp runs on Solar powered lights in each tent and dining room area, and your hot/cold shower is regulated by our gas geysers. Shindzela Tented Safari Camp offers a back to basics, affordable Kruger safari holiday, without compromising on important safari experiences; the thrill of viewing African wildlife, marveling at a beautiful sunset, or relaxing around the camp fire with a drink.

Shindzela offers morning and afternoon/evening game drives of about 3-3.5 hours.  Shindzela conducts their safaris in 4×4 Landrover vehicles (seating 8 guests per vehicle max) and guests are taken out by professional qualified field guides.  Prior to each safari activity guests are given a thorough safety briefing before embarking on their safari adventure.

Walking Trails at Shindzela

Shindzela offers walking trails of about 2.5-3 hours in the morning instead of doing a game drive.  Each walking trail is lead by a qualified lead and back up trails guide.  The walking safaris are mainly focused on nature as a whole, focusing on fauna and flora as well as animal tracks, insects, bird life and the occasional encounter with one of the Big five. No children under the age of 16 years are allowed on these trails.

This morning, enjoy your last safari prior transferring to the airport for your flight to Cape Town.

Flight Information:

Cape Town to Greater Kruger National Park return flight.

Note: Tour starts and ends in  Cape Town. This is individual tour and can be adjusted to your liking and start any day. Minimum two guests.
